Leigh Anne has a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy from Parker College of Chiropractic, is a Licensed Massage Therapist, myofacial release practitioner, Dipolmate Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique practitioner, Intrinsic Coach, Emotional Freedom Technique Coach, childbirth educator, labor doula, State of Texas Certified Breastfeeding Educator, and nutritionist. Leigh Anne is currently working on her Master of Science in Human Nutrition with specialization in maternal and pediatric nutrition, and midwifery certification and licensing.
In 2003 Leigh Anne became a massage therapist with specialized training in myofascial release, and focused on maternity and pediatric work.
In 2005 Leigh Anne and her husband, Dr. Joseph DuChene, Jr, moved to Dallas, Texas to begin their studies into chiropractic at Parker College of Chiropractic. While at Parker, Leigh Anne and Joseph learned many new emotional healing, bodywork, and energy work techniques that they quickly became proficient in. In August of 2006 they both became Diplomate Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique Practitioners.
In May 2006, after a long battle with fertility issues, Leigh Anne found out she was pregnant with her first child. Leigh Anne was in chiropractic school at Parker College of Chiropractic at the time, and spent what free time she had researching and preparing for her natural birth with a midwife at a birthing center. On December 11, 2006, after 39 hours of labor, in a very traumatic experience, the birth of Leigh Anne’s first son, JP, ended in an unexpected cesarean.
Using what they already knew, Leigh Anne and Joseph began work with Leigh Anne on emotional healing and recovery immediately after the cesarean. Leigh Anne spent the next few months really working at emotional recovery, and developed a process that she used for her own emotional recovery journey and could be utilized to support other post-traumatic birth mothers in emotional recovery as well. In July 2007, Leigh Anne began holding healing retreats and working with mothers one-on-one for traumatic birth recovery.
Leigh Anne spent the next 2 years really deepening her emotional healing and preparing for her VBAC with her next child. During this time, Leigh Anne developed a process for VBAC preparation, based off her process for traumatic birth recovery, that she used and supported other VBAC mothers with this process. Then on February 20, 2009 Leigh Anne and Joseph conceived their second child, and the journey to her VBAC really began. Leigh Anne had her successful VBAC on November 27, 2009 giving birth to a beautiful boy, Jude.
In the fall of 2009, while still pregnant with her second child and preparing for her VBAC, Leigh Anne was approached by several clients and colleagues about learning how to support mothers in the way she does for post-traumatic birth recovery and VBAC preparation. This led Leigh Anne on the journey of founding VBAC Support International, with the vision for all mothers to experience birth healing through healing birth!
